What actually moves idle plant equipment

Two carousel lines cleared in 28 days after sitting for a year. The difference was not price — it was documentation.

We had two carousel lines idle after a product change. They were listed regionally for most of a year with no serious interest, at a price we would have accepted.

What changed was not the price. It was that the lots went out with an independent inspection report — photographs, measurements, an operating record and an honest note about the gearbox rebuild.

Bidders came from nine countries. Most of them were never going to fly out to look at a used line on the strength of a listing photograph, and the report removed the reason they needed to.

Both lines cleared inside a month. The lesson we took is that in used plant equipment, the constraint is rarely the buyer's budget — it is their ability to justify the purchase to someone who has not seen the machine.
